A changeroom story from Maddison, Calgary Manager
“One afternoon a customer came in looking a little down. I greeted her asking about her day, and she told me she had been to every swimsuit store she could think of in Calgary and that being a plus sized woman she couldn’t find anything that fit her. She felt defeated, rejected and like she had exhausted all options. Swimco was her last stop before cancelling her travel plans altogether. I really felt for her and related to the struggle. I assured her that I felt confident and together we would find something she felt great in.
I asked her a few questions about what she was looking for and began pulling suits for her. I got her into a fitting room and reluctantly she began trying on. That is when I heard laughter coming from her room (usually not a good sign when trying swimsuits on). I asked her how it was going, and she replied, “sorry, I’m just so shocked that these are fitting me!” She came out to show me her favorite suit and the other Fit Experts began complimenting her, even other customers were hyping her up!
It is amazing what a little bit of kindness and acceptance can do to turn someone’s day around. We ended up finding the perfect suit for her. She was so thankful for our patience, inclusive sizing, and knowledge. Her experience with us changed her opinion of swimsuit shopping, even going so far as to say it was fun. We made her feel welcome, and that is truly what its all about. Every body is welcome at Swimco!”
